HPIX places great emphasis on physician involvement and member participation in a broad range of company functions from clinical to financial. This philosophy is the driving force behind our various committees. Currently there are four HPIX committees, each with a specific purpose which is outlined below. If you would like more information or have an interest in becoming a HPIX committee member, please email: info@hpix-ins.com.
Members Advisory Committee:
An advisory committee to serve on behalf of the Members of the Exchange for the purpose of advising HPIX, LLC, the attorney-in-fact for the Exchange, from time to time on matters of interest to the Members. Includes the regular review of company executives' performance, review of vendor relationships and discussion of external matters.
Audit and Investment Committees:
The Audit Committee is a subcommittee of the Members Advisory Committee. It meets quarterly with the independent registered public accounting firm to review the financial statements of the Exchange. The primary purpose of the Investment Committee is to establish, maintain and administer all financial investments of the Exchange.
Physician Claims Advisory Committee:
This physician committee meets periodically to review open claims. Cases are reviewed in depth and thoroughly discussed. The committee then makes a recommendation as to the disposition of each claim. The recommendations weigh heavily into the subsequent handling of the claim. The committee also receives reports of closed claims and statistical data comparing the committee recommendations to the final disposition of each claim. This feedback serves to monitor the performance of the committee and point out areas for improvement. The committee also maintains contact with the Risk Management and Underwriting Departments of HPIX.
Risk Management Committee:
The HPIX Risk Management Committee’s purpose is to develop and disseminate clinical intellectual capital to foster an environment of patient safety, ensure best practices in each specialty, and provide every HPIX insured physician with an understanding of how they can practice defensible medicine. Committee members represent a broad spectrum of clinical specialties.
