When HPIX was formed, finding acceptable malpractice insurance alternatives in the mid-Atlantic marketplace was problematic. Carriers were exiting the market at an alarming rate, large jury awards were becoming more common and the remaining carriers were increasing premiums at a double digit rate each year. Today, the medical malpractice insurance climate is very different. Through all the turmoil in the marketplace, the Exchange has not had a rate increase since inception. This is not only a sign that our model works but that our commitment to our physician clients is unwavering. Our core beliefs are what guide us day in and day out. The proven results of these measures have contributed to the Exchange’s success and have led many of our physician members to become our best referrals.
